Team Jumbo-Visma ends Tour de Wallonie with a good feeling
Team Jumbo-Visma has been unable to play an important role in the final stage of the Tour de Wallonie. Timo Roosen tried to attack in the final kilometres, but did not get away. Pascal Eenkhoorn finished the Tour in fifth place in the general classification. Dylan Groenewegen successfully defended his leading position in the points classification.
In the final stage to Quaregnon the attacks came on the climbs in the final. Due to the accelerations the pace was too high for Groenewegen after which the Dutchman had to pass. Besides Roosen, Eenkhoorn attacked as well, but the stage eventually ended in a sprint with a reduced peloton. The stage win went to Fabio Jakobsen.
Sports director Addy Engels looked back on the Tour with a good feeling. “It has been a good week for us with two stage wins, a fifth place in the general classification and the points jersey. It’s great to see Dylan winning races again after a difficult and tough period. Especially his victory yesterday was super strong because it was not an easy stage. He paid the price for that today.”
“I have seen a very strong team”, Engels continued. “We rode here with a mix of WorldTour riders and riders from the Jumbo-Visma Development Team. I would especially like to compliment our youngsters Tim van Dijke and Rick Pluimers. They both did a really good job and had a big part in our successes this week.”
