No top time for Jos van Emden in BinckBank Tour

The riders of Team LottoNL-Jumbo haven’t been able to compete for the prizes in the second stage of the BinckBank Tour. In Venray, Jos van Emden finished 15th in the time trial.

“I actually thought it was going well”, a surprised Van Emden said after having covered 12.7 kilometers in 14 minutes and 39 seconds. “It felt good, but it turned out that feelings can be deceptive. Compared to the others, my time is disappointing and I feel bad about it. I really had the plan to go for the win. I’m in good shape and I’ve trained well for this.”

The time trial was an important goal for Van Emden. “This was my main goal for the autumn. I felt good and I thought I was ready. In the end, I wasn’t fast enough.”

Lars Boom rode a decent time trial, but didn’t get any further than the 23rd time. “It was not spectacular, not super”, Boom said. Last year, he won the fifth stage in the BinckBank Tour.

“I want to show myself this week. Last season, I was good during this time of the year and I’ve had the same preparation this year. In any case, I have the level to perform well and that gives me confidence.”
