Team Visma | Lease a Bike sets sights on strong finish at Skoda Tour de Luxembourg

Team Visma | Lease a Bike couldn’t make an impact in the time trial of the Skoda Tour de Luxembourg. The highest-placed rider from the Dutch team was Johannes Staune-Mittet, finishing in 21st place. Juan Ayuso took the victory.

The 15.5-kilometer time trial wasn’t completely flat, as the route featured the Col de l’Europe (1.3 km at 8.5%), a significant challenge. Team Visma | Lease a Bike had pinned its hopes on Wilco Kelderman and Bart Lemmen, but the duo couldn’t keep up, partly because Lemmen crashed during his race against the clock.

"We’ll go for the best possible result tomorrow"

Maarten Wynants

"It wasn’t our best day," admitted sports director Maarten Wynants. "Unfortunately, Bart crashed. Wilco gave it his all, but at the end of the day, a time trial never lies. We were beaten fairly today. First, we’ll analyse today, then we’ll make new plans for tomorrow. The fight isn’t over yet. We’ll go for the best possible result tomorrow and aim to finish this race on a high note."
