Vos retains yellow after hectic stage on gravel sections Tour de France Femmes

Marianne Vos has defended her leading position in the general classification of the Tour de France Femmes. The rider of Team Jumbo-Visma had no problems in the hectic fourth stage from Troyes to Bar-sur-Aube. The stage win went to Marlen Reusser, who crossed the finish line solo.

With four gravel sections and six short but challenging climbs, stage four promised to be a battle of endurance. Vos was constantly attentive and rode in the front of the peloton. However, when Reusser broke away twenty kilometres from the finish, the Dutchwoman did not feel the need to close the gap.

The Swiss, who was no threat to the yellow jersey, increased her lead and crossed the finish line on her own. Vos won the battle for fifth place. She looked back on a good day. "We got through this stage safely with the whole team and kept the yellow jersey. That is excellent", Vos said.

The multiple world champion enjoyed the gravel sections and the crowd along the side. "It is great riding in front, but it is less fun when you are further back. I tried to stay in front all day and even thought about winning the stage, but Reusser accelerated at the right moment. I'm glad we have the yellow jersey for another day."
