Vos gives everything she’s got, suffers and finishes ninth at European cyclocross championships

Marianne Vos has finished ninth at the European Cyclocross Championships in Namur. On the difficult and technical circuit, the reigning world champion rode for a long time among the top five but ultimately finished ninth.

Vos started from the front row. She was able to ride among the best during the first laps, but as the race progressed, the 35-year-old rider from Team Jumbo-Visma Women dropped away further and further.

"Ik heb alles gegeven wat ik vandaag in me had"

Marianne Vos

"This was a very tough course”, Vos said after her third cyclocross race of the season. "The course is fantastic, but if you're not having the best day, it's incredibly grueling. I started and finished with the ambition to go for the podium, but today I could not achieve that goal. I had to put in a lot of effort, partly because I don't yet have a strong race rhythm. I gave everything I had today."
