Teunissen finishes third once again in Tour of Norway

Mike Teunissen has once again finished in third place in the Tour of Norway. After an exciting and tough third stage, Teunissen finished in the top ten for the third time during this race. He remains third in the overall standings with tomorrow’s final stage still to come.

Team Jumbo-Visma put itself in the spotlight in the stage to and from Jørpeland. The yellow-black formation attacked several times with Vingegaard, Bennett, Harper and Foss to put pressure on their rivals. In the end everything came together and a sprint with a reduced group was inevitable.


“The plan was to make the race hard from the start”, Teunissen said. “That worked out quite well. But it was not enough to get away with the right group or to drop the sprinters. The guys have really put in a good race and I would have loved to reward them with a victory. Unfortunately, two guys were faster. Looking back I maybe started my sprint a bit too late.”

Tomorrow the race will finish with the final stage to Stavanger. Teunissen looked ahead with confidence. “Tomorrow is another difficult stage. For the most part it will be held on the Hammer Series course. I have good memories of that race. So that’s nice.”


Team Jumbo-Visma won the Hammer Series in Stavanger in 2019, partly thanks to a strong performance by Teunissen.
