Team Visma | Lease a Bike shows strong performance in tough Tour du Jura Cicliste
Team Visma | Lease a Bike made its presence felt throughout the Tour du Jura Cicliste. Tim Rex was in the breakaway all day, representing the yellow jersey, while Jørgen Nordhagen was on course for a podium finish during the difficult finale, ultimately crossing the line in tenth place.
The Tour du Jura Cicliste was the second race of a French trilogy in which Team Visma | Lease a Bike’s young talents are competing this weekend. Right from the start in Fraisans, a breakaway of four riders formed, including Belgium’s Rex. The 21-year-old rider was caught 10 kilometers from the finish.
At that point, Nordhagen positioned himself in the front of a heavily reduced peloton. The Norwegian showed his ambition when he attempted to follow an attack by Frenchman Clément Berthet. However, Nordhagen eventually ran out of steam on the steep final climb and was overtaken by a group. The victory went to Guillaume Martin.
"The valuable experiences from today will help us moving forward"
“We certainly made our mark today”, sports director Marc Reef after the race. “Tim and Jørgen rode a very strong race, but that applies to the whole team. Tim really pushed the peloton to the limit. Thanks to his teammates, Jørgen was well-positioned. After yesterday’s misfortune, he was able to show himself today. He made a strong bid for a podium spot, but ended up tenth. The valuable experiences from today will help us moving forward, both for tomorrow and in the future.”
