Team Visma | Lease a Bike plays no significant role in third stage Simac Ladies Tour

Team Visma | Lease a Bike experienced a difficult day in the Simac Ladies Tour. In a windy stage, only Nienke Veenhoven managed to be part of the first echelon group. Lieke Nooijen, Anna Henderson and Riejanne Markus lost precious time.

As expected, the wind played a big role in the third stage of the Dutch stage race. The peloton broke into several pieces halfway through the race and Nooijen, Henderson and Markus, among others, missed the mark. Veenhoven was alert and represented the yellow-black brigade in the first group.

The difference between the first and second groups hovered around thirty seconds for a while, but the groups didn't merge. In the final sprint, Wiebes was again the fastest. Veenhoven did not get a chance in the sprint and finished in sixteenth place. Nooijen, Markus and Henderson lost just under a minute and a half to the winner.

"We were not alert as a team and that is very disappointing."

Eva van Agt

"We were not alert as a team and that is very disappointing. Nienke was the only one in the first echelon group, so she did well", Eva van Agt said. Veenhoven did her very best to get a good result: "From the start it went straight full speed. Because everyone was still fresh, everything stayed together."

"Halfway through the race it was full speed again and then the leading group formed. From then on it was ride along until the finish. In the sprint I did what I could, but there wasn't much more to it." Veenhoven knows there are more opportunities ahead. "I think we can go for a nice result with the team in the coming days. I'm really looking forward to it."
