Team Jumbo-Visma saves energy in time trial at Tour de Pologne

Team Jumbo-Visma has not played a significant role in the time trial at the Tour de Pologne in the battle for the top positions. The team decided to save energy for the flat final stage, in which the team wants to fight for the day's victory with Olav Kooij.

After Mike Teunissen's retirement, Team Jumbo-Visma started the penultimate stage with just four riders. Teunissen is getting married on Saturday and decided by mutual agreement with the team before the start of the Polish stage race to quit after stage five.

"Beforehand, we told the riders not to waste too much energy”, sports director Arthur van Dongen said. "In tomorrow’s final stage, we see opportunities to go for the day's victory with Olav. We need all four riders to do that. That's why we decided it was better not to go full steam ahead today. We want to finish this race with dignity.”
