Team Jumbo-Visma concludes queen stage in Valencia without problems

Team Jumbo-Visma has completed the fourth stage of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana without any problems. In the queen stage around Calpe and Altea, with no less than four thousand altitude metres, the yellow-black formation remained tightly organised around team leader Dylan Groenewegen.

“After Tobias had crashed out of the race in the second stage, we had no expectations for today”, sports director Grischa Niermann said. “The goal was to support Dylan as well as possible and to get him to the finish line without any problems. The team remained together for the entire stage and I have to compliment them for that. It was a difficult stage. Despite that, we have tried to save as much energy as possible, as Dylan has another chance to win tomorrow.”

The Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana ends tomorrow with a flat stage of 98 kilometres from Paterna to Valencia. Groenewegen has fond memories of the final stage. Last year, he won his first race of the season in this stage. This week he has already won the first and third stage of the Valencian five-day stage race.
