Roglic experiences quiet birthday in Vuelta a España’s ninth stage

Primoz Roglic has finished the ninth stage of the Vuelta a España in the peloton. Apart from a puncture, the Slovenian (31), who celebrates his birthday today, rolled through the stage without problems. The leader of Team Jumbo-Visma remained in second place overall and retained the green points jersey.

The relatively flat stage was one with little history. The two riders in the breakaway were caught in the final and the sprinter teams kept it together. When Roglic punctured in the last fifteen kilometres, Team Jumbo-Visma acted quickly. The two-time stage winner swapped bikes and was brought back to the front by his teammates.

“It was a relatively easy flat stage”, Roglic said. “Although we did have to keep paying attention, because at times it was very nervous in the peloton. We got through the stage well, so it was a good day for us. It was a beautiful day to celebrate your birthday. I feel good, the team is good and I look forward to the coming days. So far I’m really enjoying this Vuelta.”
