Riedmann twelfth in second stage RideLondon Classique

Riedmann twelfth in second stage RideLondon Classique

The second stage of the Ford RideLondon Classique turned out to be a sprint just like Friday's overture. Lorena Wiebes proved to be the fastest again. Shortly behind, Linda Riedmann of Team Visma | Lease a Bike crossed the line in twelfth place.

The stage in and around Maldon took an atypical course. Not a single breakaway attempt proved sharp enough to get away from the peloton and build up a lead. Even the high-profile North Hill, which had to be tackled three times, made no difference. In the last twenty kilometers it rained attacks, including Lieke Nooijen who did not hesitate to go along. However, a sprint finish proved inevitable.

"We can look back on a good stage as a team"

Linda Riedmann

"We did well as a team today," Riedmann stated. "We were in a good position at the important parts of the race. It was a tough race. The pace was high, so no one managed to get away either. Lieke tried at the end. I focused on the final. In the last kilometers I managed to take a good position. I am satisfied with a twelfth place. We can look back on a good stage as a team. Tomorrow we hope to compete with Nienke Veenhoven in a possible sprint."
