No place of honour for Team Jumbo-Visma in opening stage of Burgos
Team Jumbo-Visma has started the Tour of Burgos without a top result. The five-day stage race in northern Spain began with a challenging uphill finish. For the riders of the Dutch team, the arrival proved too tricky to finish in the front.
With Chris Harper in the team, Team Jumbo-Visma has a rider for a top spot in the Tour's final classification. "The goal was to have Chris as close as possible to the classification men in the results", said team manager Robert Wagner. In the end, Harper came up short on the steep final climb and the Australian lost several seconds to his main competitors.

The German sports director looked at his team with realism. "We knew we didn't have the guys to compete for today's win. The guys dropped Chris off well. It's a finish that doesn't suit him perfectly, so we wanted to limit the damage. We did that reasonably well. Chris is losing a few seconds now, but that's not a big problem."
