Koster shows attacking spirit in eighth stage Giro d’Italia Donne
Anouska Koster has shown her attacking spirit in the eighth stage of the Giro d’Italia Donne. In the challenging mountain stage to Aldeno, she escaped on the first climb, but after she was caught back, Koster had to let the classification riders go.
Karlijn Swinkels tried to jump away immediately, but she did not succeed. On the day’s first climb, the Passo Bordala, the race exploded and Koster attacked. The 28-year-old Dutch rider had to chase three riders but could not catch them. Eventually, the reduced bunch caught Koster in the descent and she had to drop out just before the last climb.
“We tried to get our riders in front on the first climb”, said race coach Carmen Small. “That worked until someone attacked. Anouska did well today. She tried to get to the front and rode as hard as possible. The rest finished in the grupetto. Tomorrow, we will try to jump again. We’ll take it day by day.”
