Coppi e Bartali proves educational for Team Jumbo-Visma

Team Jumbo-Visma has finished Coppi e Bartali with a good feeling. The lessons the mostly young riders learned in recent days are good building blocks for the near future. The young Johannes Staune-Mittet (20) finished the Italian race in the top twenty of the general classification.

Ten riders rode away from the rest of the peloton early in the final stage and the lead increased to about ten minutes. It became clear early on that the breakaway riders would be fighting for the stage win. Loe van Belle withdrew with a muscle complaint. Staune-Mittet maintained himself among the best in the peloton.

"The mix between experienced riders and young talents has again worked out well."

Sierk Jan de Haan

"We knew the chances of a breakaway rider winning today were considerable”, sports director Sierk Jan de Haan said. "Unfortunately, we weren’t able to be in the breakaway today. Johannes rode a solid race and is among the fifteen best riders, which is very good. I am proud of how we rode the last few days. The mix between experienced riders and young talents has again worked out well. That is nice to see. I look back on the performances with a good feeling."
