Attacking Van Agt sprints to sixth place in fourth stage of Simac Ladies Tour

Eva van Agt showed her best side in the fourth stage of the Simac Ladies Tour. With fifty kilometers to go, the Dutchwoman chose to attack and stayed ahead of the peloton with her breakaway partners. In the streets of Ede, she sprinted to sixth place. Barbara Guarischi won the stage.

The riders were served three local laps around Ede in the fourth stage of the Dutch WorldTour stage race. The women of the yellow-and-black formation showed themselves several times, which resulted in a leading group with Van Agt fifty kilometers before the finish. The attackers created a two-minute gap and stayed just ahead of the peloton. In the sprint, the Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women rider had to acknowledge her superiority to the Italian Guarischi.

"As a team, we want to ride attacking again next weekend"

Eva van Agt

“Everyone thought about a sprint, but at some point, attacks came, and we as a team got involved,” Van Agt looks back. “When I attacked, I was able to get away with a large group. In the leading group, we then rode hard and were able to build a nice lead. The plan was to attack from the leading group, but unfortunately, the pace remained very high, so this didn't work out. Then it was good positioning in the last kilometer, and sixth place was the highest we could achieve.”

The 27-year-old looks back on today with a happy feeling and was able to learn a lot. “It's always nice to ride a final because I don't do that very often. When I was in the attack, I got a lot of good tips from the sports directors. As a result, I was able to learn a lot, and I'm learning more and more about what it's like to ride in a breakaway. As a team, we want to ride attacking again next weekend, and we expect there are still plenty of opportunities.”
