Team Visma | Lease a Bike confident for Tour of Flanders

Team Visma | Lease a Bike confident for Tour of Flanders

A few days after Marianne Vos' incredible triumph in Dwars door Vlaanderen, Team Visma | Lease a Bike is already focusing on its next challenge. Next Sunday's Tour of Flanders will be the first cycling monument of the season. Vos and Margaux Vigié are looking forward to the Flanders High Mass on behalf of the Dutch team.

Vos had a good dress rehearsal last Wednesday when she won the Dwars door Vlaanderen for the first time. After a chaotic race, the 36-year-old rider outsmarted Shirin van Anrooij to claim her second spring victory. "It's always a good feeling to go into the next race with a win in the bag", Vos said the day after her 250th road victory.

"But there are never any guarantees. The Tour of Flanders is a completely different race to Dwars door Vlaanderen. There are many more climbs and the nervousness is much higher. In my opinion it is one of the best races of the year", said Vos, who has won the Ronde once before. "It will be a battle of attrition, but we will go for the win again."

The 21st edition of the Vlaanderen Mooiste is 163 kilometres long and includes 12 climbs and seven cobbled sections. Traditionally, the Koppenberg, the Oude Kwaremont and the Paterberg are the highlights of this classic. "What makes the Tour of Flanders so special? The history, the location, the climbs and the cobbles. I think it is one of the toughest classics, but also one of the most beautiful", said Vigié, who joined Team Visma | Lease a Bike this season.

The 28-year-old Frenchwoman is taking part in her second Tour of Flanders. She looks forward to helping her teammates achieve a great result on Sunday. "Marianne and Fem (van Empel) are our leaders, it's my job to support them as long as possible. Of course we would like to win this race, but the competition is tough."

Vigié got off to an inauspicious start with her new employer. In her debut race at Valencia she crashed and was forced to retire. "I had imagined that my first race for Team Visma | Lease a Bike would be different, but these things are part of cycling. Thanks to the medical staff the recovery was quick and I feel one hundred percent fit. I can't wait to race again."

In addition to Vos, Vigié and Van Empel, Sophie von Berswordt, Lieke Nooijen and Linda Riedmann are among the six members of Team Visma | Lease a Bike.
