Team Visma | Lease a Bike again focus on Grand Tour success: “Winning the Tour de France remains our biggest goal”

Team Visma | Lease a Bike again focus on Grand Tour success: “Winning the Tour de France remains our biggest goal”

Next season, Team Visma | Lease a Bike's focus is once again on achieving success in the Grand Tours. With Jonas Vingegaard, the yellow and black formation is aiming for a third overall victory in the Tour de France. In the Giro d’Italia, Simon Yates will join Wout van Aert, Olav Kooij and others on the hunt for stage wins and a good GC result. Vingegaard will again lead the team in the Vuelta.

With five stage wins spread over the three Grand Tours in 2024 and a podium spot in the Tour de France, Team Visma | Lease a Bike could not be dissatisfied given the circumstances. In 2025, however, the Dutch WorldTeam is aiming for the very top again.

"we confidently look forward to the season"

Grischa Niermann, Head of Racing

“Our biggest goal is to win the Tour de France again”, says Grischa Niermann, Head of Racing at Team Visma | Lease a Bike. “Besides that, we also hope to fulfill our dream by winning the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix, but it makes sense that the Tour de France will be our main goal. We already managed to win the Tour twice in our existence. We have strengthened ourselves on several fronts, so we confidently look forward to the season.”

“It won't be easy, but it will be an exciting challenge”, he continues. “It's up to us to work out a plan to achieve that goal. In 2022 and 2023, everything went superbly. We also had a good plan ready last year, but there we faced a very dominant Tadej Pogacar next to all the bad luck we had ourselves.”

The 112th edition of the Tour de France starts in Lille on July 5th. After more than three thousand kilometres, the world's biggest cycling race will have its apotheosis in the Alps. Leader Vingegaard is already looking forward to his main goal. “I can't wait to be at the start of the Tour again”, the two-time winner says. “It is the race that means the most to me. It is therefore my goal to win in for the third time. I will do everything to be at the start in my best possible shape.”

Motivated Vingegaard aims for third Tour de France win in 2025

In May, the Giro d'Italia will be the first Grand Tour on the calendar. Team Visma | Lease a Bike is aiming for stage victories with sprinter Olav Kooij and all-rounder Wout van Aert. Newcomer and former Vuelta winner Yates will be played out in the general classification. The 32-year-old Brit is looking forward to his first Grand Tour with his new team. “My biggest goal in 2025 will be the Giro. It's a race I have a lot of memories of - good and bad - so it inspires me to go for it full force again.”

Yates eagerly anticipates new chapter in colours of Team Visma | Lease a Bike

At the end of August, Vingegaard will also make his appearance in the Vuelta a España, the last grand tour on the cycling calendar. The Vuelta in 2025 packs as many as ten uphill finishes. In the successful 2023 for Team Visma | Lease a Bike, the Dane already managed to finish second there.
