Roglic aims to finish Il Lombardia in style
With the Il Lombardia and Paris-Tours, two famous autumn classics are on the programme this weekend. Primoz Roglic will close his racing year in Lombardy and will aim for his fourteenth victory of the season.
Roglic enjoyed the past races. “I am enjoying myself in Italy. It has been a long season for all of us, but it remains nice - also for the team - to be at the start. The races are tough, so I try to rest as much as possible after a race. Il Lombardia is one of the biggest races of the year, so it is important for me. I’ll try to win it.”
‘The Race of the Falling Leaves’ covers 239 kilometres from Como to Bergamo. There are seven climbs on the programme. The long last climb, the Passo di Ganda, will be conquered at about thirty kilometres from the finish. Just before the finish, there is a short, steep climb where a decisive shifting can occur.
"We have a strong team at the start, so with confidence, I look forward to Lombardia"
The 31-year-old Roglic is not in seventh heaven after his victories in Emilia and Milano-Torino. “Everyone starts at zero next Saturday. We have seen that there can already be attacks long before the finish. I expect it won’t be different next Saturday. You have to be in the front at the right moments and have some luck to get excellent results. We have a strong team at the start, so with confidence, I look forward to Lombardia.”

The Paris-Tours classic will be organised for the 115th time. After a flat start in Chartres, seven short hills have to be conquered in the race's second half. In addition, the riders will cross nine gravel strips. The race will determine whether the pure sprinters survive this part. Team Jumbo-Visma has an experienced classic team at the start in France.
