Jumbo-Visma Women aims to put up good fight in Liège-Bastogne-Liège

Team Jumbo-Visma Women will take part in Liège-Bastogne-Liège on Sunday with a selection of six riders. La Doyenne is the last monument of the spring. Race coach Lieselot Decroix is looking ahead.

The women's race of the Belgian monument traditionally starts in Bastogne and finishes in Liège, more than 140 kilometres later. The race features nine categorised climbs and 2,500 altimetres.

Decroix makes no secret of her thoughts on the race. "It is a tough and gruelling race. At the same time, it is a beautiful race. Without good legs, it will only be gruelling. We think we are ready for it. With Amber Kraak and Riejanne Markus, we have two riders who have prepared themselves thoroughly with altitude training. Riejanne demonstrated that she is in good shape in the Amstel as well. Anna Henderson is also having a good spring. Hopefully, she will show her good shape on Sunday. Although we are not the favourites, we have enough riders to play a significant role. We intend to do that with an aggressive racing style", the 35-year-old race coach says.

Decroix on Team Jumbo-Visma Women's ambitions for Liège-Bastogne-Liège: "We want to put up a good fight and display an aggressive riding style. If the teamwork and mutual cooperation go smoothly, we can play a role in the final with one or more riders and conquer a place among the best, we can certainly be satisfied."
