Dumoulin and Vingegaard in Ardennes classics, Roglic debutes in Liège

The Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège will be held on Wednesday and Sunday respectively. Jonas Vingegaard, Tom Dumoulin and Lennard Hofstede will start in the Ardennes Classics. Primoz Roglic makes his appearance in ‘La Doyenne’.

Laurens De Plus is also part of the selection for both races. The Belgian was unable to race for a long time due to injuries. He made his comeback in the professional peloton last week during the Belgian championship on the road.

Sports director Frans Maassen: “The Flèche Wallonne suits Jonas and Lennard. Both riders are in good shape. With Paul we have a good race captain who knows the course of the Ardennes classics well. He can use his experience to guide the riders to the final. As every year, the positioning in the kilometres leading up to the last climb of Mur de Huy will be very important. Primoz makes his debut in Liège-Bastogne-Liège. In this classic, there’s not a single flat metre. The course includes the Col de Stockeu and La Redoute.”

"It is a new experience to start in Liège-Bastogne-Liège"

Primoz Roglic

Primoz Roglic: “I have never ridden an Ardennes classic, so it is difficult to say how I am going to perform. I know how the fall classics in Italy go and what it takes to win them, but this race is new to me. It is a new experience to start in Liège-Bastogne-Liège and I look forward to racing there.”
