BinckBank Tour prelude to cobbled classics for Team Jumbo-Visma

The shortened version of the BinckBank Tour starts on Tuesday. The Dutch-Belgian World Tour race contains five stages instead of the original seven. For Team Jumbo-Visma, this race is a good preparation for the cobbled classics.

The team starts with a part of the classic core. Mike Teunissen and Amund Jansen are two of the seven riders who will start in Blankenberge. Teunissen made a successful return in the Tirreno two weeks ago after injuries, while Jansen just finished the Tour de France.

Last year, Laurens De Plus managed to win the BinckBank Tour. This year, the 25-year-old Belgian will not be present in this stage race. Instead, he will be at the start of the Ardennes classics.

"Mike and Amund are the main men in our selection"

Arthur van Dongen

Sports director Arthur van Dongen: “The past has shown that it often ends in a game of seconds. We have to race in an alert way for five days and seize the opportunities that undoubtedly will occur. In the first and third stage, the wind will make the difference. On Wednesday there is an eleven kilometre time trial. The fourth stage finishes at the Tom Dumoulin Bike Park and goes over well-known hills such as the Cauberg and the Bemelerberg. The final stage will finish in Geraardsbergen, just like last year. The BinckBank Tour will probability be decided here. Mike and Amund are the main men in our selection.”
