Team Visma | Lease a Bike welcomes aero specialist Jamie Lowden and coach Jasper Vaeck
Team Visma | Lease a Bike has strengthened its performance team with two new staff members. Jamie Lowden is our new aerodynamics specialist and Jasper Vaeck will be one of the performance coaches.
Lowden is a former cyclist and has gained a lot of knowledge and experience in aerodynamics in cycling. He will mainly focus on further optimising the positions of riders on the time trial bike. He will also use his expertise in the further development of materials and clothing.
Jamie Lowden: "As a lifelong cycling fan, I’m thrilled to join Team Visma | Lease a Bike and be part of their incredible story; a story driven by teamwork, determination, and a strong focus on continuous development. The chance to work with top athletes and leading brands is fantastic, and I’m eager to achieve great results. I’d love to be able to look back in a year’s time and identify a few key results where my work has lead directly to narrow wins or podiums, but in the meantime I’ll be chasing watts in the wind tunnel and working with partners to keep finding improvements wherever we can."
Head of performance, Mathieu Heijboer: "We have always invested a lot in aerodynamics in recent years and achieved a lot of results with it, but we are happy to bring in someone with specific expertise and full dedication to this field with Jamie."
Jasper Vaeck comes over from Arkea-B&B Hotels, where he worked as a coach since 2021. He will start working with a number of WorldTeam riders from 1 November. "I chose Team Visma | Lease a Bike because of its professional structure and ambition to win the biggest races. The team is multidisciplinary, data-driven and science-based. Moreover, the team keeps challenging itself by constantly exchanging feedback between staff and riders. I am proud to be able to contribute to this and also develop myself further."
Heijboer: "Despite his young age, he is a coach who brings experience at the highest level. He is enthusiastic and talented and I think he can also develop further with us. We are happy that Jasper joins us."
