Patryk Goszczurny moves from Team Visma | Lease a Bike-supported junior team to own Development Team

Patryk Goszczurny moves from Team Visma | Lease a Bike-supported junior team to own Development Team

Polish rider Patryk Goszczurny is the first rider to make the transition from the JEGG DJR Academy to Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development. Since this year, Team Visma | Lease a Bike has a close collaboration with the Dutch junior team.

The partnership between JEGG DJR Academy and Team Visma | Lease a Bike is already bearing fruit with Goszczurny's move. Less than four months after the official start, it's clear that a first rider will transition to Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development in 2025. "Ultimately, this is the goal of this project," explains Robbert de Groot, head of development at Team Visma | Lease a Bike. "Patryk came onto our radar through JEGG DJR Academy. Vincent Laporte, who is involved in the project as a performance coach and scout on our behalf, then started working with him, and through that, we got to know him very well. Patryk made a very good impression on us, and he also went on a training camp with Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development this preseason.”

The Polish junior subsequently signed a contract for the next two years with Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development. "Patryk has potential as a climber and time trialist," Laporte says. "He has already achieved some great results with a limited number of training hours at his age. Thanks to that close collaboration at a young age, we know he still has a lot of margin to grow.” In addition to an understanding of his physical abilities, the collaboration with the junior team also provides a good impression of someone's personality. Laporte adds: "I really saw him blossom over the past year. He found his place in the junior team, but he also moved very naturally within the group on the training camp with the Development Team. That's also very important to us."

Goszczurny himself is obviously very proud of his two-year contract with Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development: "This is an important moment for me. I hope to continue developing as the all-round rider that I am. I am very happy with how everything has gone and the guidance I have received at JEGG DJR Academy and from all the people at the club. Thanks to them, the transition to Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development feels much smoother and more natural. The team already knows me well before I officially join Team Visma | Lease a Bike, but I am also familiar with the way of working and training."
