Team Jumbo-Visma keeps innovating, including clothing and accessories

Team Jumbo-Visma has secured the best clothing and accessories partners to continue innovating and improving performance in 2023. Since January 1 of this year, AGU has been exclusively engaged in developing performance clothing for all riders. Oakley provides the riders with eyewear.

As in previous years, AGU is also a partner for all race clothing in 2023. Together with the performance staff of Team Jumbo-Visma, the Dutch company from Alkmaar is responsible for developing the performance clothing for the riders. The ambition to (continue to) win together drives both organisations to get the best out of this partnership.

To his great satisfaction, Mathieu Heijboer, Head of Performance at Team Jumbo-Visma, has worked with AGU for many years. “AGU and Team Jumbo-Visma make great business partners. AGU has a wealth of experience in athletic apparel. At the same time, we have the necessary skills for riding a bike and skating, thanks to daily practice. This exchange of knowledge and the joint drive to keep innovating make for an ideal partnership. We challenge each other and make each other better.”

“Time trial clothing may be viewed as the flagship within cycling apparel”, Heijboer continues. “We spent a lot of time and effort together perfecting the speed suits. We do so by carefully analyzing their aerodynamics in the wind tunnel, among other things. We use the information and expertise we obtain from this to develop all other cycling apparel.”

Aerodynamics is just one factor defining the quality of cycling apparel. Other factors include the degree of heat retention or dissipation, the fit, and how well it protects body parts in case of a crash. The Team Jumbo-Visma riders are optimally protected in all (weather) conditions. “We make progress in this field every year”, says Heijboer. “We cannot reveal how we do it, but I am convinced that the performance and wearing comfort will improve even more this year because of AGU’s efforts.

As of January 1, Oakley is also part of the Team Jumbo-Visma sponsor family. For the next four years, all riders will cycle with glasses of this American brand. A variety of models will be available to each rider.

“Oakley possesses great know-how in the field of lenses and glasses. Last November, we visited the California headquarters of Oakley and witnessed that firsthand”, Heijboer says. “Their track record is impressive, and their products are exceptional. They have been the market leader for many years, and for a good reason. In Oakley, we have yet another A-status partner. We are convinced that we offer our riders the best eyewear. They guarantee clear, sharp, and accurate vision in any weather.”

As confirmed earlier, Nimbl will supply all cycling shoes to Team Jumbo-Visma this year. Additionally, two new shoe partners have been brought on board to provide leisure footwear. All riders will own at least one pair of distinctive stage shoes this year. They are exclusively made for Team Jumbo-Visma, thanks to Floris van Bommel, a Dutch shoe manufacturer from Moergestel. The riders wear HOKA brand sports shoes during races and at training camps.
