The best photos of a blue-coloured third Giro week and the Tour of Norway

The best photos of a blue-coloured third Giro week and the Tour of Norway

What a magnificent last week in the Giro d'Italia for Team Jumbo-Visma and Koen Bouwman! He took his second stage win and secured the blue jersey. This makes him the first Dutchman to win the mountain classification in the Giro. Meanwhile, Team Jumbo-Visma also came into action in Norway.

Giro d'Italia stage 19

In the nineteenth stage of the Giro Koen Bouwman not only booked his second stage victory, he also secured the mountain jersey. Afterwards the Dutchman thanked team mate Edoardo Affini. "Partly thanks to Edo, I ended up in the breakaway and because of his hard riding we had a big lead on the peloton. This victory is also his."

Giro d'Italia stages 16-18 and 20-21

Team Jumbo-Visma excelled again in this third Giro week in the breakaways. In both the sixteenth and seventeenth stage Bouwman was in the breakaway of the day in order to collect points for the mountain classification. In the seventeenth stage he was joined by Gijs Leemreize. He made his debut this Giro and showed his potential with a second place and a top ten place in the queen stage. In that stage Sam Oomen was also in the breakaway. In the eighteenth stage it was Affini who was able to jump in the right breakaway. The breakaway held on until the end, after which the Italian was half a wheel short of the victory.

Tour of Norway

In the Tour of Norway there were sprints in five of the six stages. Mike Teunissen finished in the top ten every time. In the only stage that was not a sprint, first-year pro Michel Hessmann attacked solo and was only caught on the final climb by the general classification riders.
