Looking back at the road races in Wollongong

Last week there was plenty of racing in Wollongong. The Australian city was the battleground of the 2022 World Cycling Championships. Christophe Laporte cleverly managed to take the silver medal in a sprint. See a summary of the road races in photos below!

Men's elite road race

Christophe Laporte, Wout van Aert, Edoardo Affini, Pascal Eenkhoorn, Tobias Foss and Nathan Van Hooydonck took part in the road race. Laporte was successful in winning the silver medal in the final sprint, while Van Aert finished fourth. The Belgians had reason to be happy, however, as compatriot Remco Evenepoel rode to the first place.

Riejanne Markus, Marianne Vos, Romy Kasper, Anna Henderson and Noemi Rüegg competed in the women's road race. Vos crossed the line in 14th place, making her the best-placed rider from the Team Jumbo-Visma women's team. She saw compatriot Annemiek van Vleuten be victorious in Australia.
