One result of this partnership is the Nutrition Prediction Model, which uses artificial intelligence to calculate the necessary nutritional intake for riders during races.

The Nutrition Prediction Model employs advanced data analysis through artificial intelligence to accurately predict riders' nutritional needs. In 2019, Visma and Team Visma | Lease a Bike joined forces to develop the Nutrition Prediction Model. This model is based on a combination of historical performance data, real-time biometric data, and environmental factors. By analyzing this data, the AI model created by Visma makes predictions about the energy needs of riders during different phases of a race. The Nutrition Prediction Model is also being integrated in The Athlete’s FoodCoach app.

Key factors in the calorie calculation include the rider's heart rate and average power output. The model also considers the rider's height, weight, and role within the team. For instance, sprinters or climbers will have different needs depending on the type of race. Additionally, weather conditions and the race profile play a significant role in energy consumption. Through AI-driven calculations, the required energy intake for each race can be meticulously determined.

Before the start of a race, the nutritionists and coaches of Team Visma | Lease a Bike can use the model to create a detailed nutrition plan for their riders. This plan includes recommendations for the intake of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.
