Van Poppel fourth again in Tour Down Under
Danny van Poppel has finished fourth again in the Tour Down Under. The rider of Team Jumbo-Visma just missed the podium in the tough third stage. George Bennett finished in the same, decimated group and is now tenth in the general classification.
“I knew I had to move up in the last kilometre, but I just couldn’t”, Van Poppel said. “But this place has proved that the group and me are in good shape. Robert attacked and the other guys rode attentively.”

With 3700 altitude metres it was a hard stage, but it wasn’t as warm as during the previous two stages. “It was only 35 degrees. I felt I could deliver more power and I could accelerate multiple times. On Saturday there will be a new chance”, he said.
