Team Jumbo-Visma can’t play role of significance in fifth stage Tour de Pologne

Team Jumbo-Visma has not been able to play a role of significance in the fifth stage of the Tour de Pologne. Jonas Vingegaard was the best classified rider for the Dutch team in the sprint of a reduced peloton. He finished in thirteenth place.

In the rolling stage, four riders were given a lead by the peloton. They were caught well before the finish. Along the way, Team Jumbo-Visma saw sprinter Danny van Poppel losing contact with the peloton, which prevented him from competing for the stage win.

“Due to the fast pace on the difficult local lap, Danny unfortunately had to let go the peloton”, sports director Sierk Jan de Haan said. “That is a pity, but luckily we have a strong team across the board. The men who are allowed to show it in the next two days felt good. Neilson, Robert, Antwan and Jonas were well positioned and have not lost any time. They will have to do it.”
