Roglic starts as second overall in concluding time trial Tirreno

Primoz Roglic and Team Jumbo-Visma have come through the sixth and penultimate stage in Tirreno-Adriatico without time loss. The stage finished in a bunch sprint. Roglic retains his second place in the overall standings with the final stage, a ten-kilometre long time trial in San Benedetto del Tronto, ahead. He is 25 seconds behind Adam Yates.

The sixth stage was a relatively quiet one with an early breakaway being caught in the last five kilometres. Team Jumbo-Visma kept Roglic in the front all day without any problems.

“Today was a good day without any incidents. It was a matter of surviving with an eye on tomorrow’s time trial”, sports director Jan Boven said. “The team worked perfectly again and kept Primoz out of trouble. It was a matter of keeping positions. In tomorrow’s time trial it will be all or nothing. Tony, Jos and Primoz will give everything they have. Jos has already finished second twice in this time trial, so it would be nice if he can get on the top step of the podium. We know the course very well from the previous years so we know how to do it. It will be an exciting day for both the stage victory and the overall standings.”
