Preview Tour de Romandie
Tomorrow, the Tour de Romandie starts. Steven Kruijswijk is the team’s leader. Last year, he became sixth. What can he do this year?
Sportive director Merijn Zeeman: “Our main goal is to achieve the highest possible place in the general classification with Steven. The race starts with a prologue and finishes with a seventeen kilometres long time trial. Jos, Primoz, Tony and Steven are riders who are able to get a good result. The fourth and fifth stage both finish uphill and are important for the classification. We expect that the race will be decided in the final time trial. For Primoz, the Tour de Romandie is the last preparation for the Giro. We’ll ride the race in Switzerland to put the finishing touch to our preparation.
Interesting fact: since the Tour of Yorkshire in 2016, Kruijswijk has achieved some impressive results. Since that race, he has finished outside the top ten of a general classification of a stage race only once. He finished, for example, fourth in the Giro d’Italia, fifth in the Tour de France and fourth in the Vuelta a Espana.
