Preview Il Lombardia and Tacx Pro Classic

The last weeks of the road season have arrived. Our 50th victory of the season has been registered. An absolute milestone for Team Jumbo-Visma. Primoz Roglic won two Italian fall classics last week. He was the best in the Giro dell’Emilia and also took the win in the Tre Valli Varesine. Jos van Emden sprinted to a strong third place in Binche-Chimay-Binche.

There are a number of races scheduled for our team in October. Tomorrow, the team will be at the start of the last monument of the year, the Il Lombardia. "The race of the falling leaves" is the last one-day -race of the World Tour calendar. The steep climbs of the Madonna del Ghisallo, Muro di Sormano, Civiglio and San Fermo de Battaglia will also demand a leading role this edition.

"We are at the start with a very strong team."

Grischa Niermann about Il Lombardia

"It is clear that Roglic is our leader," says sports director Grischa Niermann. “He has shown in the Giro dell’Emilia and the Tre Valli Varesine that he is in a very good shape. We have not yet won a monument with the team. That opportunity now presents itself again. We have to make sure that we drop Roglic in good position at the last climbs. We are at the start with a very strong team. ”

Another part of the team will be present racing in Zeeland, where the Tacx Pro Classic is on the program. This course is usually determined by the wind. The finish is on the Delta works of Neeltje Jans. The 2017 edition was won by Timo Roosen, who will also appear at the start on tomorrow. Next to him at the podium were Taco van der Hoorn and Dylan Groenewegen.
