Justin Goetzee leaves Team Jumbo-Visma

Justin Goetzee has resigned his position as general manager of the Jumbo-Visma holding on the 1st of October. At the beginning of this year, Goetzee came over from football club NAC Breda to lead the holding company of the two sports teams. In that role, he faced the challenge of intensifying and further developing the unique collaboration between the two teams.

Due to a difference of opinion about the future organisation, Goetzee felt compelled to leave Team Jumbo-Visma. Richard Plugge, currently director of the cycling team of Team Jumbo-Visma, will take over his position.

Future vision

Justin Goetzee about his departure: “I saw my role at Team Jumbo-Visma as a great challenge and I took it with full enthusiasm. In the intensive discussions prior to my appointment, we jointly established a vision for the future. But along the way, it became increasingly clear to me that there are different images of how the implementation of this vision should be executed. I concluded that it is better to say goodbye. Of course I find this a great pity, but in such a situation you have to be honest with yourself and the rest of the organisation.”

Managing board

Richard Plugge takes over the position of Managing Director of Team Jumbo-Visma from Justin Goetzee. Plugge is already director of the cycling team of Team Jumbo-Visma. The management of the holding company also consists of Jac Orie (sporting director ICE) and Merijn Zeeman (sporting director ROAD). In terms of sport, nothing changes in the two sports teams.

Build on

Ton van Veen, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Team Jumbo-Visma: “We regret the early departure of Justin Goetzee, but we respect his decision. In the short time that Justin worked at Team Jumbo-Visma, he started a number of things with great enthusiasm that we can successfully build on. I want to thank Justin for his contribution and wish him every success in his further career. At the same time I express my confidence in Richard, Jac and Merijn and wish them every success in realising the beautiful and ambitious plans that lie ahead.”
