Jansen fifth in Bretagne Classic - Ouest-France
Amund Grøndahl Jansen has finished fifth in the Bretagne Classic - Ouest-France. The Norwegian from Team Jumbo-Visma rode a strong final, but could not prevent a breakaway trio from competing for the win.
The race opened up at about seventy-five kilometres from the finish, after which a group of just thirty-five riders remained. Pascal Eenkhoorn, Floris De Tier and Jansen represented the Dutch team. Jansen crossed the finish line in the first chasing group. Eenkhoorn finished 15th.
"The team did an excellent job," Jansen said. “Pascal did really well in the final. It was a shame that the guys in front were given a little too much space. I gambled on my sprint. This is a confirmation that my form is still good. I’m looking forward to the next races.”
Sports director Jan Boven looked back on a tough day. “We were well positioned today on the important points. After that we rode a strong final with Amund and Pascal. Perhaps Amund could have been on the podium, but we can look back on a good day for the team."
