Groenewegen ends season in Tacx Pro Classic with fifteenth win
Dylan Groenewegen has ended his cycling season in style with the victory in the Tacx Pro Classic. The sprinter of Team Jumbo-Visma was the first to cross the line after a perfect lead out by his teammates. It meant his fifteenth win this year and his fiftieth victory as a professional cyclist.
A leading group was caught well before the finish by Team Jumbo-Visma and Deceuninck-QuickStep. Groenewegen completed the teamwork in the best possible way and thereby gave his team the 51st victory of the season.
“It was a cold day with a lot of rain”, Groenewegen said. “There was not too much wind, so there was a good chance for a sprint. We were very motivated to win here and we showed that. I’m going to celebrate this tonight.”
The laureate continued: “We did what we had to do the entire race. In the last two corners I had Timo and Mike in front of me. I went a little late, but in the end I managed to do well. When I’m in shape and up to speed, it’s hard to beat me. I can look back on a good season and I am happy that I was able to finish this season with a victory. The fact that I am the rider with the most UCI victories this season is nice, even if they are just statistics.”
