Attackers Campenaerts and Castelijn score top-10 in Rund um Köln
“It was very warm today," Sports Director Mathieu Heijboer said after the race. “That affected everyone. Right from the start, a big group of 40 riders broke away. We were with six riders in that group, but we were without Dylan Groenewegen and Robert Wagner. That was the sign for the big group to ride full-gas. From that point on, everyone rode full-gas.”
Campenaerts attacked a second time. He did everything to break the group's grip to solo to victory.
“Victor and another rider rode away from that big group. After a while, Twan and 10 other riders made crossed towards the two in front. The riders from the big group who did not make the crossing, came back together with the group of Dylan and Robert. In the meantime, the leading group of 12 took off."
“In the end, Victor tried to ride away from the leading group several times, but they knew he was the strongest rider of the group. Twan did a good job by blocking it in the front a few times and then tried himself, but the group did not let them go."
