Moreno Hofland finished seventh again today in the second stage of Paris-Nice. André Greipel of team Lotto-Soudal won the stage.

Moreno Hofland finished seventh again today in the second stage of Paris-Nice. André Greipel of Lotto-Soudal won the stage.

“Another seventh place,” Hofland said. “It seems that seventh is my actual place in the flat sprint stages here. I hope to do better over the next few days.”

Michal Kwiatkowski still leads the overall classification. The Polish Etixx-QuickStep rider has a 16-second lead over Wilco Kelderman, who’s holding the 14th spot in the GC.

The second stage had few highlights. Arnaud Gérard (Bretagne-Séché Environnement) led the race for over 100 kilometres, but was caught by the peloton well ahead of the line.

“The peloton never really had to work hard in the chase today,” said Sports Director Jan Boven. "After Gérard was reeled in, the pace went up. As a team, we were a little bit better than yesterday. The final straight was a little too fast for Moreno. He is very strong and benefits from a slightly tougher finishes.”

Saint-Amand-Montrond
Tuesday’s stage finished in Saint-Amand-Montrond, which recalls fond memories for the Team LottoNL-Jumbo riders. In the 13th stage of the 2013 Tour de France, the team did  excellent by splitting the bunch in several echelons and helped its leaders to take time on their rivals in the same village.

Massif Central
Wednesday’s third Paris-Nice stage is the final flat stage of the week. After the 179-kilometre ride from Saint-Amand-Montrond to Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule, the peloton heads into the Massif Central.
