Must-have for all riders: the Jumbo Foodcoach app

Must-have for all riders: the Jumbo Foodcoach app

For the cyclists of Team Jumbo-Visma, nutrition is of crucial importance for optimal performance. Our team sets high standards for nutrition and varied meals. For that reason, our riders work with the Jumbo Foodcoach app.

Until a few years ago, the team calculated the energy requirement per rider manually, and then adjusted the meals accordingly. Because of the time it took, this was only done during important races. Meanwhile, our team has been using the Jumbo Foodcoach app for some time now. The aim of this app is to adjust every meal to health, performance and recovery, down to the last gram per rider.

"The riders use the Foodcoach app all year round. Both during the race and at home. It is one of the keys to the success of the past years."

Martijn Redegeld

The team’s nutritionist created a personalized nutrition strategy where each meal is tailored to the individual rider before, during and after a race or training. The chefs then receive this input and go to work to prepare delicious meals that provide the riders with their personal nutritional requirements down to the last gram. The riders can see in the app which meals are waiting for them and how many grams they can scoop up at the buffet.

There is a wealth of knowledge behind the app as it was developed together with nutrition experts and exercise scientists. The app was first tested and optimised by having our riders, chefs and nutritionists use it on a daily basis. The app is now full of recipes that can be tailored to individual needs.

Since last summer, the app has also been available to amateur cyclists. Just like our riders, you can eat healthy and tasty food in an easy and fun way, tailored to your individual needs. The app can be downloaded for free in the App Store (iOS) and Google Play Store (Android).
